2019 in review: What’re you most proud of? When was your most joyful moment? What was the most hard-won lesson? Who’re your favorite people? What’s exciting you right now? These are the things I’m taking into the new year. (The rest we can leave here.) Chin up.
Today I remembered that transitions aren’t easy. Sometimes it’s too much to think about a whole year coming to an end, another stretching ahead. So I’m going to focus on just this one day. Maybe this one hour. For the next 60 seconds, I resolve to be patient with myself. Chin up.
Love is a verb (the fiercest of verbs). Love is a contact sport. Love is a practice. Love is soft and hard, strong wind and warm sunshine, comfort and itch. Love is ours to give and ours to receive, and sometimes those don’t line up perfectly but we try anyway. Chin up, my loves.
Joy to the world. Peace to the world. Dog kisses, baby smiles, chocolate covered oreos. Courage to change. Comfort of a best friend. Curiosity. A cushion of goodwill. Grace for what is and what’s to come, grace for others. Light for the way. To the world. To you. Chin up. ❤️
Good morning. Yesterday a dear friend asked me, “how is your heart?” I thought about that question for hours. I considered, I concluded, I revisited. Genuine inquiries are a gift (and a nudge). So today I ask you: how is your heart? (You can respond silently.) Chin up.
